Consultation on Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) at Bowes

The Connect Education Trust is seeking feedback from a broad range of stakeholders regarding the proposed closure of the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) at Bowes Primary School. The ARP serves children who require more support than a mainstream classroom can provide, offering places in a Local Authority-funded ARP specifically for eight pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Currently, four pupils are enroled for the 2023/24 academic year, with only one pupil projected for 2024/25.

To minimise the impact of the proposed closure, effective from August 31, 2024, the school is collaborating with the Local Authority to find an alternative arrangement for the one remaining pupil for 2024/25.

The ARP, which was previously located elsewhere, returned to Bowes Primary School in September 2023. However, due to high enrolment and limited space at the school, there is currently no available classroom for the ARP.
