Safeguarding

At Bowes there is no higher priority than ensuring the safety and well-being of all our pupils, all of the time. We also take very seriously our duty to ensure the safe and effective care of all adults, including volunteers, who work within our family of schools.

This means that our safeguarding responsibilities do not begin and end at the school gates, nor do they finish with the end of school bell. We are all responsible for creating a culture where our pupils feel safe in an environment where they can thrive in every aspect of their development and education.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead at Bowes Primary School is Effie Demetriou, The Headteacher. Other designated staff have been identified in the poster below:

The Department for Education has published a child-friendly version of Working Together to Safeguard Children, including a downloadable booklet and animation to help young people understand safeguarding processes.

The guide, titled A Guide to Safeguarding for Children and Young People, explains how professionals like social workers, teachers, doctors, and police collaborate to keep children safe. It encourages children to speak up and reassures them that help is available.

This guide responds to calls for greater inclusion of children’s voices in safeguarding. Please click here to view the booklet. You can view the video below.
